In this Taste of Playback Workshop, participants warm up their intuitive capacity with playful games and ensemble exercises before learning basic artistry and principles of Playback Theatre through telling of our own stories and playing them back in respectful and surprising ways.

The workshop is both a welcoming space for your creative self, and a great first step to learn more about the practice and performance of Playback Theatre. Might you want to be part of a community of people bringing together respectful, empathetic and ritual improvisation to serve our community? Additional workshops are slated for 2025-2026!

The workshop is led by Chris Fitz and other members of the River Crossing Playback Theatre ensemble.  Chris is a graduate of the School of Playback Theatre with more than 20 years in the craft, informed by other methods of applied theatre and facilitation including Contact Improvisation, Improv Theatre, InterPlay, Mediation and Restorative Practices, Outdoor Education, Theatre of the Oppressed and more. A graduate of the William Penn Performing Arts Institute (York, PA), he holds an MA in Peace & Development Studies and a BA in Conflict Resolution/Transformation.
